2025 Dog Licence Reminder
Dog licences for 2025 are now available for purchase.
Dog owners who used the online service in 2024, or who provided an email address when purchasing a dog licence, should receive an email reminder early next week. Parishes are reminding owners to check their emails, including the junk box, for the reminder which includes a link to renew for 2025.
Licences can be renewed using the Doglicences.je online portal, launched last year, or by submitting a paper application.
Chairman of the Comité des Connẻtables, Mike Jackson, said – QUOTE
The online system provides a simple, streamlined option to apply and pay for a dog licence. The new site was very well received last year with 82% of dog licences purchased online. There’s no need to create an account or remember a password – access to the system and your dog licence details is by ‘magic link’.
Paper applications continue to be accepted and should be returned to your Parish Hall.
We would also remind dog owners that the law requires a dog, when on a highway or in a public place, to wear a collar with the owner’s contact details. It is not sufficient to have only a microchip or identity number. This helps ensure that a lost or stray dog can be quickly reunited with its owner reducing the distress to both dog and owner.
Licences cost £10 per dog and must be renewed by 31st January. Owners are also reminded that they have a duty to clean up after their dogs. This applies to all beaches, parks and public areas such as roads and pavements. Dogs must also be kept under proper control and must not worry livestock or be dangerous.
